Auto de vidrio para Pontiac Grand Am

Pontiac Grand Am Auto Glass

Driving your Grand Am is part of your daily routine, and relying on your vehicle to get you safely around town requires intact and working windows to allow you clear visibility and views of the road and drivers around you. Maintaining the auto glass for your Grand Am is a critical necessity for safe operation of your vehicle. While some auto glass repairs can be done without replacing the entire window glass, there are times when installing a full auto-glass piece is required for your Pontiac.

Can a windshield issue be repaired without replacing it?

Having the windshield of your Grand Am impacted can be a frustrating experience. Often these issues happen at no fault of your own, such as a piece of loose gravel from a dump truck striking your cars windshield while youre driving on the highway.

Fortunately, windshield glass is constructed from laminated glass where two pieces of glass are sealed, one on top of the other, under high heat using a layer of PVB between them. This process creates a strong glass windshield for your Grand Am that is designed to resist shattering as well as absorb impact forces, all of which increases the safety of the driver and front passenger during potential vehicle impacts.

Because the Pontiac windshield is laminated glass, small chips can be repaired with kits specially formulated and designed to fill in the chip using a resin compound.

Is laminated glass used for the Pontiac Grands side windows?

While laminated glass is the type of glass used in both the front windshield and the rear windshield, it is not used for side windows. The side windows of your Grand Am feature tempered glass, a single sheet of glass that is heated to a high temperature then quickly cooled. Tempered glass is used for its safety features; once tempered, the glass will have a shatter pattern that features pieces that have rounded edges rather than pieces with sharp or angled edges.

Do you need new sash clips for replacing a car window?

The sash clips that function within the window assembly of your Grand Am are glued to the bottom of the window auto glass and then bolted to the regulator assembly. If you are replacing a side window on your Grand Am due to a significant glass issue, you will likely need to purchase new sash clips to attach to the new auto glass. You may be able to reuse the bolts that hold the Pontiac Grands sash clips to the window regulator assembly; check your current hardware to see if it is universal or will work with the new sash clips.
