Sharp Camcorder Chargers to Keep Life Charged

Over the years, many models of Sharp camcorders have hit the market, making the chargers that fit them equally diverse. Whether your charger has failed, or it's been misplaced, there are times when you need to find a replacement. You can find the right battery charger for your camcorder and learn more about it here.

How do battery chargers work?

Battery chargers are designed to work with specific rechargeable batteries or camcorder models because of the voltage requirements and connectors used. Battery chargers come in two general formats: Some plug into a camcorder and charge the batteries while they are installed; others charge batteries after they've been taken out of a camcorder. The latter type of charger is designed so the battery can be inserted or snapped onto it. The chargers will have indicator lights that tell you when the battery has reached a full charge. If the battery remains in the camcorder, then the camcorder will have a battery indicator that lets you know when it's charged.

What types of battery chargers are available?

There are as many chargers as there are batteries. It's important to remember that it's not just the size of the battery that matters when finding a charger for it. The voltage requirements can be different for batteries of the same size. Be sure to get the charger designed for your camcorder model. Here are a few of the camcorder charger models you can find:

  • UADP-0274TAZZ AC Power Adapter Battery Charger.

What are the signs of a faulty battery charger?

It can seem tricky to determine whether you have a problem with your charger or a battery, but there are some rules of thumb to follow. Usually, if a battery stops holding a charge after several years of use, it has reached the end of its life. Here are some of the ways you can tell the problem is with the charger, not the battery:

  • Burned plastic odors: If you start smelling burned plastic when the charger is plugged in and charging a battery, this may mean the charger is shorting out somewhere in its circuitry.
  • Erratic indicator lights: If the charger is failing to make good contact with a battery, you might notice the indicator lights for a charged battery switching on and off haphazardly.
  • Physical damage: If your charger is damaged in a way that keeps batteries from snapping onto it securely, you should replace it.
  • Indicator lights no longer work: If the indicator lights aren't displaying anymore, you should replace the charger.
