How many different kinds of knives does Global manufacture?

They make many different products, both for consumer use and professionals. Large meat cleavers, small paring knives, and other blades like those intended to cut vegetables, bread, herbs, and more are all available from the company. Filleting knives and standard cook's knives are also available.

What are knives and cleavers made out of?

These knives are made from a special stainless steel alloy known as CROMOVA 18, composed of unknown quantities of molybdenum, vanadium, and chromium in addition to the normal materials used in making steel. Both the blade and handle of the knives are made from stainless steel with dimpled texturing on the handle for a secure grip. Each part of a knife is actually made of two separate pieces of metal welded together.

What must be done to maintain a knife?

To maintain a knife or cleaver, proper cleaning and sharpening must be done. The manufacturer states that in order to clean one of their knives, it should be washed by hand with hot water and a mild soap instead of being placed in the dishwasher. For blade care, frequent blade straightening with knife steel should be done (preferably before each use). Global knives can easily and safely be sharpened using a normal whetstone with mineral oil when they begin to dull, as well.

What are some specialty knives available?

Knives specifically for cutting tomatoes, crab and lobster, scallops, and bagels and sandwiches are just a few of their unusual cutlery. There are also knives specifically for left-handed people.

What are the different knife series available?

The company divides its different cutlery into different "series" of tools, numbering four in total. They are:

  • G Series: The most basic cutlery and the largest number of products, all in standard sizes.
  • GS Series: Extra knives meant to compliment the G Series, many of which are smaller in size.
  • GF Series: Heavy-duty knives meant for professional chefs with similar options to the G Series.
  • GSF Series: Similar to the GS Series, a selection of complimentary knives for the GF Series.
