How do engine mounts work?Engine mounts typically have two parts. One part is bolted to the engine and the other part is bolted to the steel frame of the vehicle. In between these two parts is a rubber insulator that acts as a shock absorber. Some mounts use a fluid system instead of a rubber insulator. When the engine is revving up, it tends to twist. The driver’s side of the motor will rise, and the passenger side of the engine will go down. You should check to see if there is any excessive movement when it is revving up as well as if it is hitting any other components in the bay.
