Soportes de Motor para Dodge Grand Caravan

Dodge Grand Caravan Motor Mounts

Your Dodge experiences all sorts of wear and tear over the course of its life, which ultimately leads to the breakdown and replacement of components. This not only applies to the constantly moving and rotating parts of the engine and transmission that propel your vehicle forward, but also to the pieces that hold them in place. If your Dodge Grand Caravan noticeably vibrates when you start it up or sounds excessively loud as you drive down the road, then it might be time to change its engine mounts.

What are motor mounts?

Motor mounts are the pieces of hardware that connect the engine to the framework of your Dodge Grand Caravan. A variety of models use different materials such as polyurethane and hydraulics, but the usual models are made from a solid piece of metal with a rubber sleeve sitting on top. The rubber provides a cushion that quiets the noise and vibration caused by all the moving parts. In addition to keeping the engine stable and quiet, the motor mounts also keep your Caravan’s drive-line in alignment.

What is the difference between OEM or aftermarket engine mounts?

OEM engine mounts are designed by Dodge specifically to fit on the Caravan, while aftermarket engine mounts are produced by third-party companies and are mass produced to fit a number of makes and models of similarly designed vehicles. However, just because an aftermarket engine mount was not designed solely for the Grand Caravan doesn’t mean that it is inferior in design or won’t last as long. There also may be different options available in aftermarket mounts that OEM suppliers don’t carry. The best thing to do is to shop around and compare different OEM and aftermarket engine mounts, and see which model will work best for what you need.

How do you replace worn-out motor mounts?
  1. Ensure that there are no obstructions between the engine and frame, and ensure there is clearance for hoses, lines, and wires so they dont get kinked or snagged. Once it is cleared, place the jack underneath and raise it until they both touch. Place a couple blocks of wood between the engine and the jack to help stabilize it during the lift.
  2. Loosen all the mounting bolts with a ratchet, and go underneath the Caravan and loosen all the mount-to-frame bolts.
  3. Jack up the engine until you can safely get at the motor mounts. Remove them and compare them to the new ones to make sure they fit, then install them.
  4. Thread in the mount-to-frame bolts, slowly lower the engine until they are aligned, then tighten down all the bolts.
