    Step Child of Surface Tablets

It has some good things going for it - full Windows unlike RT tablets, micro USB charging so no need to carry around special charger, nice screen, nice size. Unfortunately, glaring weaknesses makes it hard to recommend unless you can pick one up way under $200. Please, DO NOT buy if over $200 because there's better deals out there. The processor is adequate, at best, but lags at times, including during online browsing. If you pay these prices, browsing should be effortless but it's not and that's a sin for so-called premium product. Ridiculously high price for key cover option, although if you mind the slight size misfit, way cheaper keyboards for the older Surface RT and Pro works. One good thing is that, if you want a docking station, they're available online for under $30. If you don't mind the shorter battery life and the special charger, Surface Pro 2 is a compelling alternative as it'll give you more bang for the buck now. If you're thinking of getting a used one, make sure the tablet has absolutely no issues with charging port such a loose fit or slow charging and don't buy if the battery life is substantially reduced (say it get less than 2 hours from full charge). Nothing on this tablet is user replaceable so don't count on repairing anything if a component goes bad.

    Great Compromise Device

I carry this as a second screen while traveling for work. It does most things well, but nothing fantastically. The LTE connectivity is a must have for me when traveling and the fact that I can run standard Windows programs was a huge driver to move from an Android tablet to a Surface. Again, this won't be sufficient to function as a primary device for most power users, but it is a great tool for email, web surfing, light office productivity and the like. In terms of the device itself, the screen is of better than average quality, but a far cry from my buddy's Surface Pro. The battery life is great, but the device does take quite a long time to recharge when depleted. The processor is fast enough for most tasks I ask of the system, including light gaming, and the 128GB of storage can be augmented with a flash card, so storage hasn't been a drawback. Again, I wouldn't recommend this as a primary device for business users, but it is a great compromise as a tablet replacement and a second device.

Love this thing more then my Surface Pro 3!

I was a little skeptical buying a now 'Pro' version of the Surface. Once I read that the Surface 3 was Windows based, and not the horrible RT version, I was sold. I received mine and it also had Windows 10 on it. I can now run this thing in a computer the size of my iPad, but as a real PC too. It has amazing functionality, screen is good, has a great sound system, has a decent processor that I can actually play 'real' games on, has a real keyboard, and good memory. On top of that, it has good battery life where I can watch movies, play games, do work, and the battery has good life. I also like the fact that you can use a regular charger for your Android phone rather then a different charger like most laptops. All in all, this has replaced my iPad, Lenovo Laptop, and MacBook. Yes, I am an advocate of this, and no, I am not being paid by Microsoft.

Great if you like this style

Ok, to be clear its a great product if you are primarily a tablet user / internet surfer. I've decided it's just not for me. The keyboard cover flopping around is not a feature I enjoy. Always careful how you pick it up, set it down or move it so the stand doesn't collapse or trap a finger. Going back to netbooks & convertibles now that the Intel Z8300 & 8700 are more available in combo with 4GB RAM. Tech trickles down & we all benefit. I think these were a solution to a problem that didn't exist. I have a second one with a dead screen & use for a light desktop work & media player using a HDMI monitor & wireless keyboard. It is a powerful little device that doesn't require cooling & has endless storage with a USB 3.0 hub plugged in. I just don't care for it's intended use.

    Surface 3

Great tablet! Very clear, crisp, and responsive screen! Easy to type on the touch screen keyboard. Also very fast, haven't experienced any lag while running multiple programs and websites. In my opinion it's very light and easy to handle, my father thought it was a bit heavy but he's used to his iPad. I primarily use this for college courses to take notes, read e-text books, and studying (all of which it's amazing for). It's not too big so it doesn't take up too much room on a desk but it's large enough to easily read things and watch videos. I think I'll start trying to use it at work to help with on the go statistics tracking and report writing. Overall I highly recommend, especially if you can find it for under $280.00!

Nice computer, but a bit slower than full laptop

The Surface 3 tablet computer is functional like a full computer but lags a bit in speed. The Atom Processor just doesn't have the power that a full computer has. the pen works well in this case, no apparent lag with the screen write features. I have an older Ipad as well and I have to admit the ease of using an ipad with the many apps and market acceptance makes the surface a bit hard to migrate too in its entirety. Another thing I wished I did was get a surface with the cellular feature build in as the need to use my hotspot phone feature or some wireless access is a little hassle to use.

    Excellent desktop replacement

We bought this bundle for my grandmother for Christmas. It replaced her laptop (which worked as her desktop). Because she has a smart phone, she's familiar with how to use a tablet and took to it very well. It's responsive. The screen is excellent. Getting the surface 3 pen working was a nightmare. Did you know they have 2 separate yet equally difficult to purchase battery types? Stupid. It is powerful enough for light gaming, preparing documents, and surfing the web. Based on the performance of the Surface 3, I am considering replacing my own laptop with a 4 or a Pro. Microsoft really knocked it out of the park with these tablets!

    Lightweight; works well for travel

I have been looking for a product like this to use for travel. It is a good combination of the features of a laptop and tablet. I appreciate the touchscreen and the ability to walk around easily while reading on the Surface 3 while using it as a tablet. For context, I am a history teacher and I teach and take classes online, so I spend much of my time reading, writing, or grading papers. The keyboard cover enables me to type comments and papers as needed without having to take my heavier, larger laptop with me.

    Good, but concerned.

Had it for a couple days, but one day it just wouldn't turn on. No screen flashes, turn on noises, nothin. Waited another day and tried again. Figured out when its battery was lower that it had overcharged. I don't know if this brand is prone to mess ups like faulty batteries or anything. It does have a SSD(solid state drive.) Those have always given me trouble before. Overall good product though. Working now, fast, etc. Not much storage space however, as updates and such take a good 50% of the tablet's memory.

    An awesome computer!

The Surface Pro 3 does it all! It's light; it has a keyboard when you need more than what touch offers. The Bluetooth-enabled stylus offers another dimension of usage that opens up so many possibilities from recreation and art to education and business applications. I could certainly have used it when I had to grade English essays sent to me by email, and when I was a proofreader for a magazine my work would have been so much easier using the stylus. I highly recommend the Surface Pro 3 to anybody.
